Best Rare Forest Deck

In Legend of the Cryptids one of the main questions people have is what is the best Legend of the Cryptids Rare Deck?

I look at all the cards available to the Rare class and focusing on purely offensive or defensive stats and the buff the card provides put together what I believe is the highest performing deck for that realm using cards based in that realm. Naturally these are subject to change when new cards are released but are still normally valid.

Its kind of a pain to find accurate information for this game so if you come across a card of the Rare variety that beats these please let me know.

Best Rare Forest Attack Deck:

1st: (Undying) Umbral, The Soul Flayer - 9076 Attack - Big Boost to Forest Attack
2nd: (Unbound) Rockface Basalisk - 8050 Attack - Medium Boost to Forest Attack
3rd: (Seance) Lushgrowth Lizard - 7560 Attack - Small Hit to All Attack and Defense
4th: (Judging) Eager Ammit - 8050 Attack - Small Hit to Fire Defense
5th: (Blessed) Gallant Squire of Light - 7175 Attack - Medium Boost to All Attack

I do not know what's up with (Undying) Umbral, The Soul Flayer, but it is too strong offensively for a rare. Offering over 9k attack and a big boost, it can't be beat in the rare category. Some other viable options are Rockface Basilisk who comes to the plate with 8050 and the traditional medium boost to forest. Eager Ammit also deserves an honorable mention with 8050 attack but only offers a small hit to water.

Best Rare Forest Defense Deck:

1st: (Seance) Lushgrowth Lizard - 7560 Defense - Small Hit to All Attack and Defense
2nd: (Mythical) Jorik Apparition - 6720 Defense - Medium Hit to Water
3rd: (Electrifying) Thunderflame Zilant - 6020 Defense - Medium Hit to Water
4th: (Artificial) Leading Android - 6300 Defense - Small Boost to All Attack
5th: (Blessed) Galland Squire of Light - 6300 Defense - Medium Boost to All Attack

I was pretty shocked to find so few viable defensive cards under the forest heading while finding such a powerful offensive card. The nice part of Lushgrowth Lizard though is that 7560 is both attack and defense so it can be dually used. Many of the cards are lacking in the buff and pure stat department.

Best Rare Water Attack Deck:

1st Card: (Focus) Atum of Vitality - 8820 Attack - Medium Boost to Water Attack
2nd Card: (Frozen) Ice Dragon - 7560 Attack - Medium Boost to Water Attack
3rd Card: (Waterstrike) Whirlpool Gargoyle - 6090 Attack - Medium Boost to Water Attack
4th Card: (Harmony) Whispering Celestial - 6790 Attack - Small Boost to Water Attack
5th Card: (Bewilderment) Melancholy Undine - 7280 Attack - Small Boost to All Attack

Water realm has a surprisingly large amount of acceptable attack cards. Another acceptable card is (Frozen) Ice Dragon which has 7560 Attack and a medium boost to water. Finally a less expensive option would be to use (Harmony) Whispering Celestial for 6790 Attack and a small boost.

Best Rare Water Defense Deck:

1st Card: (Giving) Silent Mermaid - 8050 Defense - Small Hit to Fire Attack
2nd Card: (Fearless) Star Reader - 6300 Defense - Small Boost to Water Attack and Defense
3rd Card: (Refused) Raging Astaroth - 6160 Defense - Medium Hit to Fire Attack
4th Card:(Snakelord) Elegant Naga Raja - 6048 Defense - Medium Hit to Fire Attack
5th Card: (Virtuous) Pure Snow Maiden - 8050 Defense - Small Boost to Water Attack

Silent Mermaid and Pure Snow Maiden are the only two cards in the rare category that have over 8k defense. Unfortunately Pure Snow Maiden has a medium boost to water attack. I am not sure if this is a typo because the Wikipedia on this game is quite frankly awful. If Pure Snow Maiden has a more logical medium boost to water defense, it would be the best defense card. Otherwise most of the cards are lacking in Defense from what I've looked up.

Hopefully this helps what to aim for in water.

Upcoming Stuff

I'll apologize for any delays on posts lately. I have been playing a lot of WoW, Mists of Pandaria since release to get my characters higher level and start raiding. On top of this I have my Rage of Bahmut Blog, as well as a couple other blogs and websites I'm trying to work on during free time.

After this weekend I should have more time to produce new content for this site.

Master of Puppets

Master of Puppets is the currently running event on Legend of the Cryptids. This event is based heavily on the Puppet Master Event from Rage of Bahamut.

The player proceeds through a series of quests and during this time there is a chance to summon a boss. The boss once summoned must be defeated by the player who summoned him as well as any members of their guild summoned to aid the player. The prize for defeating the boss is up to five cards.

So, how to do well during this event?

The same methods that worked for me in Rage of Bahamut work just as well here. Make sure your friends/guild members are diversified. If you have too many overlapping you may find times where nobody is able to help you defeat a boss. On top of this having a decently powerful attack deck helps in being able to accumulate points from damage dealt.

Some things to note:
1) Overkill counts toward your damage done so don't be afraid of going overboard
2) Energy is important but being able to replenish attack power becomes far more important the further you are into the dungeon so keep that in mind as you stockpile items.
3) Attack a boss every time its up, even if you can't kill it. Participating yields rewards even if somebody else does a vast majority of damage.
4) Now is a great time to enhance your cards. You can accumulate very large amounts of cards during this event so keep that in mind as you power up.
5) Don't burn yourself out. With events like this its easy for players to burn themselves out on the game. Keep in mind it's a game, play in short bursts, not long runs.


Forest Realm


I decided that I wanted to do a three part series on the advantages/disadvantages of various realms in Legend of the Cryptids and the third realm I wanted to cover is Forest Realm.

Forest Realm is the least popular of the realms. Because of the lack of popularity cards for this realm are normally abundant and less expensive. This realm seems to have majority of the dragons in the game as well as most of the forest animal based cards. The reason it is least popular is most people don't really have an affinity to wood when the other options are fire and water. At the time of writing this the referral card is based in the forest realm but the buff works for all realms when leveled.

I find the power of cards between realms to be fairly equal. Most of the forest cards I've seen focus on weakening water but otherwise they seem to be really balanced offensively and defensively. I haven't yet noticed any cards that appear to be amazing in offense or defense that either fire or water doesn't have a better card than.

I think this may inevitably lead to forest realm having the best attack card and best defense card due to attempting to balance, similar to what happened to man realm in Rage of Bahamut.

I recommend forest realm as a great starter realm. Not only does the realm have the referral card but also the cards seem to be the cheapest and most abundant. Eventually they could be the most popular realm but I feel that it will always be plagued with poor art selection when compared to water/fire realm.
